Warriors Needed: Bruce’s Leukemia Battle
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Maria and I want to recruit Warriors for my brother-in-law, Bruce, who needs your help. First, let me tell you a little bit about my sister and her husband. Neither one of them want to have ask for help. They are always the ones helping others, doing fundraisers, poker runs and benefits for Hospice, Breast Cancer, All Cancers, St. Jude and local families who needed the support. They donate Christmas presents and clothing to families in need, anonymously, every year. This time, it is them who need Warriors to support them through Bruce’s battle with Leukemia. Bruce fought and won this battle 2 years ago, or so we thought. When they found out Bruce’s Leukemia was back his doctor immediately wanted to get him into a Clinical Trial that would require lots of trips to the hospital but would only require taking one pill a day. In order to get into this trial Bruce had to have several tests and exams. One of these exams resulted in them finding a blood clot in his heart, along with heart failure that was most likely caused from his first battle with the Leukemia. This means, for now, the Clinical Trial is out, and he is back to having daily chemo treatments for 7 days in addition to a daily pill for a total of 28 days, then they repeat the process. Adding to the stress of dealing with the Leukemia, Bruce also has to see doctors for the heart failure in order to get healthy enough for the Clinical Trial. Bruce has no symptoms for the heart failure and the doctors believe he can be healthy enough to do the clinical trial with proper treatment. This treatment will improve his heart condition and help him fight the Leukemia as well.
The first time Bruce went through this battle it nearly broke them with all that the insurance didn’t cover. The toll of all of this mentally and physically is difficult enough, then add the cost of daily 110-mile round trips for chemo, out of pocket costs of medications, co-pays, gas, parking and food increasing the hardship. My sister, Shannon, would rather sell her vehicle than have to ask for help. She has always tried to help other people and has no idea how to ask for herself, so I am asking.
All donations will assist in covering the cost of medications, gas, co-pays and parking, not to mention we currently don’t know what other exams, treatments or medications will be required. Even the smallest of donations is helpful and greatly appreciated.
With all of my love for my Brother in Law,
