Hello, this is Nina or better known as "the potato lady"....I have a story to tell, a tale of ups and downs, perseverance, determination and sheer will to survive. 10 years ago I had the seeds of an idea and a dream to have my own catering business. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a small jacket potato business in Warwick and the dream began. For 2 years I worked extremely hard replacing old equipment, vehicles and putting my own take on my new business "Posh Potatoes. After many disasters and personal injury, at last the business was paid for. 4 days later our country went into lockdown and the dream was over for a while. Once Covid-19 was under control and life began again the world had changed, everything was different but the passion was still there for my food and my community. The last 4 years have been the hardest, surviving covid, adapting to new trading patterns and reduced footfall in town, all businesses are struggling and 3 years ago I thought things were over yet again when I suffered a severe burns accident. The support I received from my friends and the wonderful Warwick community was amazing and I survived it. The last year has been the worst, with worsening weather conditions and more equipment problems resulting in lost trade and being forced into the realisation that I am near to losing everything that I have worked for. I am desperate to continue my dream and to serve my loyal customers and community and the only way that I can do that is to ask for their help. For Posh Potatoes to survive I need to raise funds to replace my faithful but worn out 20 year old vehicle and to convert my storage premises in the Holloway into an alternative venue so that in bad weather conditions I can still trade 5 days a week. If this can be achieved I can continue to serve the town and the people that I love and my dream remains alive. On Saturday 5th April this year I was sadly dealt the final blow and following a fall I was found to have broken my shoulder putting me out of work for at least the next 2 months which is devastating. It is because of all of this I am reaching out to the community that I have served for many years to help Posh Potatoes and myself to survive. Any donation, however small is another step to the dream continuing. Whatever the outcome I take this opportunity to thank you all for the last 8 years, it has been a potato roller coaster ride that I have shared with you all.......Nina "The Potato Lady"
