Dear Friends of Brazil:
We need your help!
Since its founding at Columbia University Law School on December 1, 2018, the U.S. Network for Democracy in Brazil has worked tirelessly to:
• Educate the U.S. public about the current situation in Brazil;
• Defend progressive social, economic, political, and cultural advances in Brazil;
• Support social movements, community organizations, NGOs, universities, and activists, etc., who will be vulnerable in this new political climate.
At our Second National Meeting, held at Georgetown University on October 19, 2019, we decided to launch an ambitious campaign to raise $100,000 in order to open the Washington, D.C. Office for Democracy in Brazil. We want to hire a full-time staff person who can work with members of Congress and organize visits of progressive politicians and leaders of social movements and unions both to and from Brazil to deepen links of transnational solidarity. We want to create an alternative voice in Washington, D.C., strengthen the national network, and influence U.S. policy on Brazil.
To do this, we are partnering with the Center for Policy and Economic Research (CPER), a Washington think-tank, that promotes democratic debate on important national and international economic and social issues. We have already raised $20,000, one fifth of our goal. However, we need your support to reach $100,000. Please make a donation today!
