Washington Post Tech Guild: Don't Take the Bezos Bribe

Donation protected
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, The Washington Post attempted to unlawfully lay off 76 tech workers while in the middle of bargaining for the Tech Guild’s first contract. Jeff Bezos wants us to accept defeat, take a weak severance package and leave quietly. This is not generosity – it’s a bribe, intended to break our union and our spirit. We’re fighting to save as many jobs as we can, and raising funds to support our members as we stand up to this union-busting.

This GoFundMe is being overseen by Washington Post Tech Guild co-secretaries David Pham and Sara Carothers, and Guild member Sushmitha Tamil. Funds raised here will be transferred to Tech Guild members by Venmo and Zelle to cover needs in the coming weeks or longer. Any excess funds will be donated to the Post Guild GoFundMe, a similar campaign to provide relief for Washington Post journalists.

Please share this far and wide. What has made The Post special for so long is the people at this company: how resourceful we are and how much we care for each other. And that will continue despite management’s attempts to divide us.
