Waste2Bench - Recycling Plastic Bags into Community Benches
Donation protected
Hello Caln, Coatesville, East Fallowfield, Modena, Parkesburg, Sadsbury, and Valley Residents:
✨ Introducing the Jahaco's Waste2Bench Program ✨ A powerful community movement turning plastic waste into beautiful, lasting change—13,000 plastic bags at a time!
We are Jahaco, a family-led initiative founded by Jeff, Amy, Hailey, and Allison Burke of Coatesville, PA. Our mission is simple yet transformative: turning hard-to-recycle plastics—especially grocery bags—into long-lasting, maintenance-free benches for Chester County.
You’ve seen them—those plastic bags from grocery runs, online orders, and everyday products. Most recycling centers can’t process them as they clog machines, require tedious sorting, and too often end up polluting our roadsides, waterways, and landfills.
But we believe we can do better. Together.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Eco Plastic Products of Delaware (ECOP)—a facility purpose-built to process these challenging materials. We then transform them into something remarkable: sustainable benches that serve as symbols of community pride and environmental stewardship.
Right now, we have over 10 tons of plastic—equivalent to 2 million bags—ready for transformation. But the real magic happens when we work together to fund and place these benches where they’ll have the greatest impact.
We’re creating a grassroots movement - Waste2Bench—for neighbors, businesses, and families to come together to make a tangible difference. For every $850 raised, 13,000 bags will be transformed into a new bench and installed right here in Chester County!
Here’s How It Works:
1. Each bench is crafted from 100% recycled plastic—equal to 13,000 bags diverted from nature.
2. 100% of your donation goes directly to the cause. Jahaco will cover all GoFundMe fees.
3. Benches will be placed throughout Caln, Coatesville, East Fallowfield, Modena, Parkesburg, Sadsbury, and Valley areas.
4. Crowdfunded benches will have an engraved plaque: “Provided by Jahaco’s Waste2Bench Program. Made from the equivalent of 13,000 plastic bags. Check out Jahaco.com for more details to support our community mission.”
5. Business/Memorial benches can also be purchased by contacting us through Jahaco.com. We can provide a plaque with a business logo or memorial message if requested.
6. We’re collaborating with civic leaders to choose the most meaningful locations and colors for each bench – locations to follow shortly.
7. You’ll receive weekly updates, videos, and progress stories via GoFundMe and our social media—so you can watch the impact unfold!
This is more than recycling. This is legacy-building.
Every bench tells a story of people who cared enough to act—who chose to uplift their environment and build something beautiful for generations to come.
Let’s stand together to create a cleaner, more connected community—one bench at a time.
