Mark McElrath Memorial Fund

United States Secret Service Special Agent Mark McElrath unexpectedly passed away while at home. Mark is survived by his wife, Sydney; his two children, Maddy (4) and Max (1); parents Alan and Trisha; brother, Nick; and many other loving family members and good friends.

While this tragedy has come as a shock to all of us, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of such a larger than life guy; we must honor Mark and the sacrifices he made serving this nation.

Mark's brother, Nick, has shared a few words below to describe how great a guy Mark was.

This past Tuesday night my brother Mark died unexpectedly, leaving behind his wife and two children. He was 33 years old. He is and was my first best friend. The significant memories, both joyous and difficult, are too many to count. He was an inspiring person in so many ways; a gentle giant who drew others to himself. He succeeded at everything he put his mind to, which was a lot. I was always so proud to see him perform so well in school, college, and his career. Eventually, he joined the Secret Service, excelling in that like everything else, and finding meaningful purpose in serving a cause greater than himself. More significant than his career accomplishments was the husband and father he had become. In the past few months, we had several conversations about how much he wanted to be home with Sydney, Maddy and Max, and how that held primary importance in his life.

I will forever cherish the time and memories we had together, from video games and sports in the yard growing up, to endless hours helping my dad cut and split firewood, to teaching Josiah how to fish, and many more.
