Water for the Anglican basic school in Ghana
Donation protected
My name is Jemima and I am a Paediatric Nurse born and raised in London. In March 2022, I visited the Anglican basic school in a small town in Ghana called Duayaw Nkwanta to donate some supplies for the school.
During my visit, I noticed that the school had no clean toilet facilities, no kitchen and no running water on the school premises. The Anglican basic school is a government school, one out of three schools in the town. They provide education for children in reception up until secondary school.
Living in the UK, water is a basic standard of living. Every household, school, and building has running water. When I visited the school, I noticed that there was no running water. This means that if parents cannot afford to provide their children with a bottle of water, they will go to school without water.
The school are unable to provide children with water, there are no decent toilets and they are unable to cook onsite due to the lack of water.
Funds raised will be used to create a borehole which will provide fresh water for the school and local residents. A borehole is a deep hole drilled into the earth by a machine and a narrow shaft board is inserted into the ground. This hole can be used to extract water.
Thank you for taking time to read my story.
