Water for Zambia, Water for life

Did you know that 6.4 million people in Zambia do not have access to clean drinking water?
Just a few weeks ago, I didn’t. But now that I know, I want to help. Do YOU?
Hi, I’m Lina, an 11-year old Dutch-German girl, living in Lusaka, Zambia. For about 7 weeks, I have been researching and learning about clean water in Zambia for a school project. Now, we have finally arrived at the best part: Taking Action. For my action, I would like to raise funds for World Vision Zambia, to drill a new borehole and give about 500 people access to clean water.
Why
This project means a lot to me, because, if you think about it, we can just open a tap to drink water. We even use clean water to flush the toilet or water the garden! But a lot of people, especially women and girls, have to walk many hours to fetch water. Often that water is dirty and will make them sick with loads of different diseases, including Cholera. That is why I want to help more people have access to clean water. As they say, even a small action can make a big difference. From the pictures I received from World Vision Zambia, you can see how much of a difference a borehole can make.
Donate
Do you, like me, want to make a difference in the world? Then, please help me to raise EUR 2,750 (in Zambian Kwacha 55.000) to donate to World Vision Zambia for a borehole. World Vision Zambia has been providing people with clean and safe water for the past 30 years. I am already in touch with the Water and Sanitation team of World Vision Zambia, and they will make sure a borehole is placed. So whatever you donate, it will help improve someone’s life. Wait, that’s not true, because a borehole can provide clean water for about 500 people. If we work together, we can make a big difference.
Thank you for your support.
Lina
What else can you do?
Learn more about the water crisis in Zambia: During my research, I found the following websites very helpful: https://www.worldvision.co.zm/site/project_details/4 (World Vision Zambia), https://www.wateraid.org/where-we-work/zambia (WaterAid Zambia) https://crosscatholic.org/blogs/2021/12/water-crisis-in-zambia/ (CrossCatholic Outreach).
Save water: Like I said earlier on, even a small action can make a difference. You can help solve the water crisis, by doing something small, like taking a shower instead of a bath, or closing the tap while brushing your teeth. There are millions of ways to save water.
