Water Tank for Samwel
My name is Samuel Otieno Orenda, I am the elder son in our family of two brothers and two sisters. I am married and I have one baby girl. We live in Western Kenya. I am a community permaculture leader and my mission is to bring permaculture fully to my community since we are a community of small farmers facing changing weather patterns, low investments and relative isolation. I started farming in the year 2014 and I have joined permaculture training that was hosted in our County of Homa Bay.
My farming project helps provide food from my farm to the community. Apart from working in my farm project every day, I always walk to the villages to teach the families on how to grow healthy food for their families. Permaculture teaches how to learn from nature to build resilient systems that are more than sustainable: they generate degraded lands and help build community. These are exactly the kind of help we need in Africa. My aim is to create a beacon of hope , inspiration and learning for our people in Kenya and around the world. I would like to raise $1200 for the water tank to help me store some little rain water that would help me especially during drought. I feel it in my heart when I travel on foot 5 kilometers to get water to the farm , I really feel very tired since it is a long way.
The money will help us buy the water tank of 20,000 litres , the gutters, the cement and concrete to build the base, the labour charge for the masonry that fix the base and the transport of the tank. The water tank would be filled by water through the gutters that will be connected to our house where I took a picture standing in front. So when it rains the water will flow through the gutters to the tank.
Thank you all. Every little donation will count and you will be part of this project.
