40 Watt Club Employee Relief Fund
Donation protected
Since its humble DIY beginnings in 1978, the 40 Watt Club has grown into a legendary hot spot to experience both emerging local talent and incredible artists visiting from all over the globe. Along with the majority of fellow live music venues across the country, the club’s operations are currently suspended for an indefinite period as we work together to flatten the curve until Covid-19 is under control.
Outside of the 40 Watt Club, many of our staff members fulfill other unique roles within the local music ecosystem, working as studio engineers, music educators, journalists, visual artists, bookers, road crew members, merchandise managers and designers. The 40 Watt Club is also thrilled to have employed hundreds of our town’s beloved musicians over the years—nearly every single individual currently working at the club is a musician, or will inevitably become one if they hang around long enough. While this makes our hearts swell with pride, it also means in no uncertain terms that many of our employees’ other streams of income are currently left in a state of limbo as the entire industry has come to a screeching halt.
Your donations will directly assist the 40 Watt Club’s staff maintain a state of normalcy during this unprecedented and unpredictable time. We deeply appreciate your loyalty and support, and are dedicated to getting through this together with style and grace. We urge you to follow the recommendations of your local health and government representatives, and to remember our vulnerable friends and community members who are most effected.
Athens, we love you. Be well, and we will see you soon!
