Wave House Swim Team
Tax deductible
Our swim coach Don Watkinds died of a heart attack on July 27, 2017 at practice. Don was a legend in the swim community not only locally but internationally. Don was the President of the San Diego Swim Coaches Association as well as the Disability Swimmers Chairman for San Diego. His Swimmers achieved the highest success at every level from the Paralympic Games to USA Swimming Nationals, Zone and Local Competitions.
Don was a great man and created a unique team called the Wave House Swim Team. Originally our team was at the Wave House in Belmont Park but temporary closures have made us somewhat of a nomadic tribe, traveling between city pools (depending on which ones are open), until one day the Wave House opens back up.
As a father with two children on this team that have been swimming with Don for 5 years, it’s hard to put into words what a special and unique environment that he created. Our team will take everyone: Special Needs, Disabilities, swimmers of all ages and backgrounds swimming together and swimming at a high level. There is truly nothing like this anywhere. Don’s passing has left this team in disarray.
Since the loss of our coach we have had problems paying for the lanes that average between $400 and $500 a week. We have always relied upon donations to pay for the lanes in support of Don’s work.
We would appreciate any support to help pay for our pool lanes and would like to invite everyone to watch a practice to see what a special team Don has created. Please remember this is a non-profit and all donations are tax deductible.
If you have any questions please feel free to email or call me, my name is Glen my cellphone is [phone redacted]. Thanks so much for visiting our campaign, God Bless.
