Waylon Hamilton on his healing journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Skye and I'm trying to raise some money to help my sister and brother-in-law with the medical expenses of their newborn baby boy. He was born on July 22nd to what seemed to be a healthy little boy. On July 23rd my sister and her husband (mom and dad) thought something wasn't right with him as he still wasn't eating or pooping but he kept puking up green bile and his stomach was as hard as a rock. They did mention this to the nurse on shift and they were told it was normal as he was not properly feeding. After another nurse took over she saw the vomit and she called in a pediatrician to take a look at him as she said it was not normal. The pediatrician examined him and had an x-ray done and found that his intestines were swollen but he was not sure why. They were told that they needed to fly him to Edmonton to the Stollery Children’s Hospital to get the best help possible. Waylon and my sister were flown in at 6:45am on the 24th while her husband drove 5 hours to meet them there. Waylon was then diagnosed with Hirschsprung's disease, which for those who aren't familiar with that is when some of the intestinal nerve cells don't develop properly, which was the reason he was unable to have bowel movements. He had to have an emergency surgery to reroute one of his intestines to the left side of his belly and he now has a colostomy bag so he can have bowel movements and will have the bag for a few months or until he is big enough to go through the proper surgery to fix everything. They were told he has to stay there for minimum 1 week or until Waylons little body is working to the best of his ability so they will be responsible for their stay at the hospital as they are 5 hours away from home. They were also informed that they might be responsible for part of the plane ride. Anything will help, I would just hate for them to be stuck with a huge bill after going through something as traumatic as this. I would like to say thank you for any donations. It means a lot to me and my family.
