Waylon’s Formula Fund

Hi! My name is Carly and my fiancé is Jordan. Together we have two beautiful baby boys, Decklyn and Waylon. Lately Waylon has needed a lot of medical attention. Around 2 months old he was diagnosed with failure to thrive. His growing had really slowed down. We tried so many different types of formula for about a month and had challenges trying to find something that worked. We were hoping that once we found the right formula that he would start growing. Well, that didn’t happen. We were then referred to the nephrologist. He got blood work and urine culture done. His blood work came back abnormal, so they ran it again. And still came back abnormal. The nephrologist called us and told us that we needed to get Waylon to the hospital now. We dropped our oldest son off and raced to the nearest children’s hospital, which was an hour away. They redid his blood work and it came back normal. His first two tests were done through a heel prick, which allows a lot of room for error. His labs that were done in the ER were taken straight through the vein. Fast forward two weeks, Waylon got really sick. He threw up and wouldn’t eat. So I took him straight to the hospital. They did labs and came back fine, but since he wasn’t eating they admitted him and helped us get to the bottom of his failure to thrive. He got an ultrasound done on his kidneys, bladder, stomach, and heart. He also got an echo done. They all came back normal. The next day in the hospital the speech therapist came in and we talked about his feeding and his past history. She then had the GI team come in. They determined that he can’t break down and absorb everything in his formula. They switched his formula and we are hoping that he’s able to absorb the nutrients. Our next step is to see the endocrinologist and get his growth hormone level checked out. But his new formula is very expensive, it’s hypoallergenic and everything is already completely broken down. We are estimated to spend about $400 a month on formula. We could really use any help possible. Jordan and I can’t thank you enough for your support and helping Waylon.
