Wayne & Brooklynn relocate and medical expenses
Donation protected
ToastyBros and PCBros have teamed up to help Wayne to cover some of his families relocation and hospital bills for his 7 year old daughter Brookylnn. She has recently been diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) which can be life threatening and has already started to affect her day to day life. We donated $3,200 to start and we're hoping viewers will help out with even $1 donations. Here is more of the story from Wayne:
Basically it started off as what we thought was pink eye. After a little over a month it never went away they continued to increase the strength in the eye drops but we was concerned so we reached out to eye specialist vs her primary doctor. We then started visits at children's hospital where we was going once a week. They drew 5 tubes of blood almost every visit. They continued to do eye exams, ultrasounds, dye, and more. They first told us they couldn't find anything which is what made us ask for a higher up eye specialist. The apps went from once a week to multiple times per week. After countless hours of testing and blood being drawn from her. They diagnosed her with JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis). It typically causes joint pain and inflammation in the hands, knees, ankles, elbows and/or wrists. But, it may affect other body parts too . Such as her eye. They informed us it may cause her to go blind in her eye. Which we are somewhat already experiencing. She has slowly started to fail more and more eye exams out of that eye per trip. Her eye is really glazey. Looking at it you can clearly see something isn't right. There is no cure for JIA but remission (little or no disease activity or symptoms) is possible. Early aggressive treatment is key to getting the disease under control as quickly as possible. The goals of JIA treatment are to: Slow down or stop inflammation. But nothing to help remove it. Even thought she is going to a top ranked hospital in the world we are seeking a specific center or specialist for this particular disease. We have located 2. One is in Florida, the other one is in Texas. We are currently awaiting to hear back from St Jude's due to their large network to see if they have or can assist with any recommendations. We are fully prepared to leave everything behind and move to a facility that may or can assist with prolonging this as long as possible to help her enjoy her life, her eyesight, and everything else. A recent study (http://rheumatology.oxfordjournals.org/content/54/suppl_1/i153.2) showed that mortality is fairly high in patients with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). These death rates are the highest among girls, up to 50 times greater than those in a comparable segment of the non-JA population. We are seeking help to help cover medical bills and possibly a quick move to a location that is 17 hours away.
