Dear Supporters, Contributors, & Donators,
My name is Wayne Baker Brooks. I'm a worldwide traveling blues artist from Chicago, Illinois the capital of Blues Music.
Read the CHICAGO SUN TIMES newspaper story here about Covid 19 affecting Chicago Blues Artists
The entertainment/music industry faces a major longterm crisis. In March 2020 there was a worldwide Covid-19 pandemic "Stay at Home" order placed for all non essential workers. This order resulted in forcing all of the venues, festivals, events, restaurants, and bars of any kind to close, postpone events, or cancel shows. Due to the order and venue closures all of my gigs/shows/events for 2020 are postponed until next year or completely cancelled while we are practicing "Social Distancing" to beat this deadly virus.
Social gathering is the lifeblood for concerts, events, shows, etc. Since nobody knows what the future holds and how our new normal will be the future of live performances is very uncertain and that is frightening for me and any artist whose livelihood is at stake.
Touring gigs/shows/concerts/events are my sole source of income. The impact of COVID-19 for me is a loss of nearly all of my income for the remainder of 2020. All shows that are postponed including my 50th birthday bash at City Winery Chicago, my US shows, Japan shows, and Africa shows are being rescheduled for 2021.
Right now at this point I do not qualify for "unemployment" benefits because I am a self-employed sole proprietor. A few months of this will devastate my world I'm sure just like other musicians. The music industry foresee this as a longterm hardship. My bills are piling up, my mortgage will be at risk, amongst other expenses like health care and all of my insurances. So far there is nothing in place to cancel or defer rent or mortgages nor insurances.
Over the course of my long career I have contributed to many fundraisers, performed in benefit concerts and supported many causes. Now I need you!!!
I humbly ask for your support and appreciate your kindness deeply.
Ways to support me are donating to this GoFundMe, along with sharing this GoFundMe, or buying my merchandise for yourself and/or gifting our merchandise to your friends and family.
All donations will go to basic living expenses such as electric, gas, water, internet, phone, mortgage, insurance premiums, health care, food, and especially PPE to go to the store. Any surplus will be invested into providing you with more unreleased music that will ease your soul and take you away from all the negativity we see and hear everyday..
Thank You Kindly for your consideration
