HELP SAFIRE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to help people. I didnt care what it was, as long as I was making a positive impact somewhere. I have had many hardships in my childhood and it was always refreshing for me to be in school, where I was able to be a kid. During my time in school I met some amazing teachers who worked with me and pushed me to achieve goals that I never even knew I wanted. In college, my EOP https://www.suny.edu/attend/academics/eop/
advisor also worked with me and pushed me to reach my full potential. He never gave up on me and was a huge influence on the person I am today. I applied to http://www.cityyear.org/ which is a volunteer program through http://www.nationalservice.gov/programs/americorps AmeriCorps, and got accepted to be in the Miami program in Florida. City Year focuses on helping students graduate high school by providing students with tutoring, safe after school activities, peer mentoring, etc. I want to be able to make a difference in not only the students lives, but in the community as a whole. I hope to help create safe afterschool programs as well as take on community projects which will benefit Miami. I want to be that person that these students can feel safe talking to, to push them to reach their full potential. To think that I can be that person who they think about years down the line while they are working thier dream job, thanking me for being there for them to help them raise thier grades and being a positive role model. I want to do all of this because if it wasnt for the teachers I have had in the past or my EOP advisor in college, I would have been able to realize just how much I am capable of. I want to give back to all these positive people in my life by helping others and passing on what they taught me. At the moment I do not have resources to make this dream of mine come to life. With the money that I am able to raise, I want to use this money towards housing and groceries for my stay in Miami. I would be extremely grateful of anything that is donated to me. Thank you so much!!
