Help my cousin get through this difficult time!

‼️I NEED HELP‼️

This is going to be one of the harder posts I have to make. I'm asking for help, guidance and assistance. We are currently hospitalized in Ann Arbor, Michigan but reside in Monroe, Michigan. Please share! You can reach me thru messenger.

I do not know who, what, when, where or why.

Our lives have changed forever.

On 11/27/2023, my 17 yr old son, Knoah and I walked into the hospital, where he went into surgery to have a laminectomy and spinal fusion of T5-L4 with removal of L2. During the first surgery, he suffered a spinal cord injury. His injury is a T12 incomplete SCI with ASI C paraplegic. He is currently paralyzed from the waist down.

Our tentative discharge date is January 8 or so. In order for him to come home, my home has to be handicap accessible. I live in an older home that is not wheelchair friendly. I have a raised front and back porch, with bedrooms on the 2nd floor with 2nd floor bathroom. My plan is, to move his bedroom to the dining room until I can figure out a better, more accessible option. The electrical is outdated and I'm not sure if it will handle the medical equipment he currently needs.

I, right now, have no idea how I'm going to transport him home let alone to and from doctors appointments. I'm on FMLA from my employer which I have had to extend, possibly indefinitely due to Knoah being 24/7 care. He requires a hoyer lift to move from bed to wheelchair, etc. He is covered under my medical insurance thru work but because I pay a portion of it, as I'm not currently earning a paycheck, I don't know how long that coverage will last nor am I able to pay bills.

I'm lost. I'm heartbroken
