We are family. Support us to stay together

I am Annie. I will be receiving donations from Go Fund Me account and sending them to Donya to support her in getting a permanent home. She can't receive the money herself as she is stuck in Gaza and can't make the transfers herself.

  • My younger sister, Noha, was deprived of all the joys of childhood.

My family is going through an incredibly difficult time.

I am Donya, a university student from Gaza, Khan younis , and while I’ll share some of our story, many of the details will remain with me, out of respect for my family and the painful memories we are still navigating.

Due to the war in Gaza, our house was bombed and demolished. We lost everything—clothes, furniture, appliances, photos, and even official documents.

Displaced to Rafah, we lived for five months in a tent that offered little protection from the winter rain. With only a few bags of clothing and an insufficient mattress for our family of nine, we often had to divide ourselves into shifts to share what little we had. On some nights, we stacked mattresses to keep them dry, letting our youngest sister sleep on top, while the rest of us sat awake through the storm, watching the water flood our belongings. I remember, for the first time, hating the winter. That night will never leave me.

This was my tent last winter and I don't want to spend this winter in another tent.

In May, we returned to Khan Younis, and though I was overjoyed to be back, our situation didn’t improve. A relative found us an abandoned, uninhabitable house. We worked tirelessly for a week to make it livable, installing only an external door—there were no windows or internal doors. Yet, despite the harsh conditions, we had a roof over our heads.

Now, after five months, we’ve been told we need to vacate the house within five days. Since hearing this, I’ve been haunted by memories of the tent, of those freezing nights. I can’t bear the thought of returning to that life, especially with winter approaching.

In desperation, I reached out to my friend Annie, who suggested starting this campaign to ask for help.

The war has left us without a place to call home. We are a family of nine—seven siblings, our mother, and me. Though we’ve always managed to face life’s challenges, this time, we can’t rebuild without outside support.

This is just what's left of my house

That’s why we’re turning to you. We’ve created this GoFundMe campaign in the hope that, through the generosity of others, we can secure a permanent shelter and begin to rebuild our lives.

The funds raised will go toward securing a safe, comfortable home that we can afford in the long term, so we don’t find ourselves on the streets again. We understand how difficult these times are for everyone, and any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in our lives.

The money will be distributed as follows:

  • 900 euros for monthly rent.
  • 700 euros to cover needs for food, drink and treatment.

This will guarantee us life for at least the next six months.

This is my little sister, Noha. Please, watch it!

If you can’t donate, sharing our story and campaign link with others would mean the world to us. Your kindness will help us return to the simple life we long for.
