We are fundraising to buy community food digestor

The Sustainable Nutrition Academy is a community interest company that works to promote healthy food practices and consumption in our communities and reduce waste. Social advancement, environmental awareness and education underpin our work.

A big part of our work is involved in community gardens/centres across London, where we collect food waste from restaurants, save it from the incinerator (thus helping improve local air quality !) and make a high quality compost out of it, which is then used in many community gardens. The compost greatly improves the soil quality and is helping to grow food which then benefits the local communities at the gardens.

However, the current process is long and time consuming, and therefore limiting the full potential of this scheme. in order for us to expand efficiently and really see the benefits of this scheme, we need to purchase a digestor, which will significantly speed up the process of creating compost.

With this, we will be able to create much larger quantities of compost, at a much quicker rate. This will allow us to move forward with our goals of reducing food waste in hospitality, as well as significantly improving the local air quality.
