Hi, my name is Mo Alagi! I’m a local Sacramento filmmaker, animator and editor. I’ve directed,shot,edited and written many short films and animations since 2016. I’m currently gathering $6,000 to produce a feature sci fi drama film, “We Are I”. That’s actually all I need! The film log line:
After cloning himself to gain a lab assistant, a lonely scientist creates a mind control machine to force admiration from others, unaware about the clone’s plan to stop it all peacefully...
I’m honing in a simple sci fi story inspired by films like Primer, Coherence, Ex Machina and Moon. I was also inspired by other films dealing with isolation and self discovery like Following, Buried, The Guilty and Locke. It will be shot in black and white at Academy ratio to give it a style of a sci fi/horror/Universal film from the 30’s and 40’s, a fitting touch for a film of this nature.
This has been a passion project of mine since 2021, but I wasn’t able to produce it right away due to lack of funding. Now, if we reach this goal, I can definitely film this feature within my limitations and scale. Thanks to Eric Gomez for playing Dimitri, the lonely scientist and First Gen, the clone, for this screen test, a first look of what’s to come. Anyway, this micro budget would be used to finance for the only main actor in the film plus other bit parts, props, specific camera equipment, etc. With the script I written, $6,000 is enough! I will make sure to submit to film festivals as well after Final Cut is complete! Whatever donation you can make, even $5, will make a big difference in this stark, thought provoking, cerebral directorial debut of mine.
