Paityn is 10 yrs old and the last 3 years of her life she has been in and out of the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ). Unfortunately she is there again now an and the worst she’s been since her first time. They talked of ECHMO a couple days ago, but looks like we skipped that. Unfortunately now they are talking of a tracheostomy, depending on what she does over the weekend. Either way doc said she thinks vent support for additional weeks.
Rosemarie and Jasen (her parents) both work full time to give Paityn and her 2 sisters the best life possible. Every time Paityn has been in the hospital a lot of financial hardships come up. The bills don’t stop! She has been in the hospital for days, weeks and months at a time. From the sounds of the doctors it will also be another couple weeks if not months again.
Rosemarie and Jasen both stay at the hospital and by Paityn’s bedside to make sure she is comfortable, safe and loved with familiar faces at all times. There are also choices about treatment that have to be answered with a sense of urgency.
In this very exhausting mental, and financial time, we ask our family, friends, and anyone else to help ease the burden of some of the weight. Though Rose and Jasen are separated they co-parent in the most amazing ways. Currently both of them are staying at the hospital to be by their daughters side.
