We Are the 50: golf tournament fundraising
Hello Folks,
My name is Edwardina. I called myself Namo. I am a Vermont junior golfer at Cedar Knoll Country Club and West Bolton Golf course. I'm a 14-year-old girl, who has been playing golf for 3 years. I've played plenty of golf that gets me to the point where I compete in local golf tournaments with others around my age.
A golf friend of mine from Cedar Knoll, who was part of the Vermont Golf Association (VGA) encouraged me to try to compete in this National golf tournament called, We Are the 50, it's a golf tournament where 16-18-year-old and 15&under both male and female golfers compete with others from all 50 states. I told my grandmother who is my caretaker and a parent to me. She is my top supporter who also agrees that I should join and compete in this great tournament. I, myself, have competed in many local golf tournaments and I am becoming a competitive golfer. Actually, last year I won a junior championship at Cedar Knoll Country Club against 16-17-year-old boys and other 4-5 boys were there to compete. Also since I was good enough in golf, I got into the varsity golf team as a freshman and my summer job is to teach the youngster everything about golf. I learned so many lessons from golf and I love the sport itself because things aren't predictable. It's a game of mentality and a game against yourself. It's peaceful and what I like about it is that I can enjoy and appreciate the scene of nature on a golf course.
Back to We Are the 50, I was pleased about all the hard work and practicing golf that led me to where I am now, a young golfer with potential. I am certainly excited for We Are the 50 because I had discovered that Hammock Beach Resort, one of the American luxurious vacation destinations, is going to be hosting the tournament! Unfortunately, with golfing and competing in high-class resorts, money is a barrier for me. My grandmother is our single parent raising my cousin and I, however, she can't afford enough money. I didn't want my hopes and talents to just be ruined by not having enough money to pay for all the traveling, place to stay, fee for the tournaments, food and, etc. Also, covid has impacted my life. As a traveling and adventure lover, I love going to places where I can explore, learn and enjoy life. Lastly, a lot of national golf tournaments and many other events were canceled due to the pandemic. Before the pandemic, I looked forward to preparing myself for those tournaments. I got so tired of being home so much that it causes me to be a little anxious and sad about how life was back then. But as more and more people are vaccinated things are getting normal by a little better. People can travel. The world is recovering. I hope to raise about $3,500 US dollars. This amount of money will help recover all the hard challenges in the past and also it fulfilled my dream of traveling trips. Please consider donating. I will be very happy and greatly appreciated it. Also, the DATE OF DEADLINES is in the month of August! Thank you so much!
