Donation protected

WE THANK YOU

Dear Friends & Family,

After a year long battle with Pancreatic cancer, Kevin Fleming transitioned on Thursday September 21st 2023. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Maria Fleming, son Dylan Fleming, father Gerald Fleming, mother Cynthia Fleming (Tyner), and sisters Stephanie, Karen, and Alecia.

We Thank Each And Every One Of You.

We Thank You for your good wishes, your prayers, and your support. Through it all, we appreciated your love and genuine concern. While words will never be enough to describe how grateful we are, please know we will never forget the kindness and generosity you showed us during Kevin's time of need.

We Thank You for your donations to our GoFundMe Campaign and we humbly ask for your continued support. The funds raised are being used for expenses not covered by insurance. All the hospital visits, medical and pharmacy co-pays, transportation, gas, parking, etc. continue to build up so your donations have been extremely valuable for us to sustain ourselves to this point.
If possible please click https://gofund.me/e20783bc to make a contribution.

As you have during this journey, we hope you will continue to check in on us as we embark on another leg of this journey called life. We pray for peace and we send blessings to all, but most importantly .......WE THANK YOU!

The Fleming Family

MY FATHER NEEDS US:

If there’s one thing, I’ve learned through this journey it’s that God is good all the time. I want to take a moment to first express my gratitude to all of you who have prayed for my dad, called us, texted/DM’d me, or made a donation towards the GoFundMe.

When my dad first fell ill back in October it was around my 30th birthday. I knew my family and I would be embarking on a long road in terms of his recovery. It’s been incredibly difficult at times taking care of my Dad in the last seven months but that burden has been somewhat lifted off our shoulders with the help of wonderful people like you.

However, our journey in terms of my dad’s recovery is FAR from over. Last Wednesday, he was hospitalized due to an issue with his IV line. On Friday he was discharged. I drove my parents straight from Kaiser on Sunset Blvd to the City of Hope where he had an appointment to get a second opinion on how to proceed with his cancer. The COH doctor advised that he stay with Kaiser’s recommendations and follow the original treatment plan.

The following day he received a phone call from Kaiser, saying he needed to be rushed to the ER due to a fungal infection they found in his blood. He was admitted this past Saturday night April 8th and has remained there since. The team at Kaiser is now working hard to stop a blood clot they detected in his leg in addition to the infection.

It’s disheartening to watch my father suffer this way. The conditions of the hospital stay are very uncomfortable for him. This current stay marks the 10th hospitalization since October. And we’re not counting all the doctors' appointments which have been plentiful.

The Fleming’s need to know who we can count on as the fight for my dad’s recovery moves forward. Again, we humbly ask that you donate whatever you can; if you can. No amount is too large or too small. I am beyond pleased at the outpouring of love you’ve shown him over the past seven months, yet we still need you!

Please click the GoFundMe link and make your generous donation.https://gofund.me/e20783bc. Then please continue to spread the word throughout your social circles, friends, families, co-workers, colleagues, and creative collaborators.

What makes me smile about this is seeing the multiple communities my parents and I individually belong to come together as one for my Father. But again, our journey is far from over so I humbly ask that you stick by our side with love and good faith for my dad’s recovery.

Thank you from all of us.

Dylan Fleming

I HAVE CANCER.

It pains me to say it out loud, but the reality has set in… I have cancer.
Pancreatic cancer to be precise. In addition, I have an ulcer and a hole in my stomach. My nutrition is being provided by TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition), which provides me with macronutrients, electrolytes, and other nutrients that replace food. And, If you’re keeping score, I’ve been in the hospital 8 times in 5 months. In other words; my health is a mess.

Yesterday I started a treatment program. My oncologist has determined that I’m not a candidate for chemotherapy, so as an alternative, he is proposing an immunotherapy cancer treatment. Cancer immunotherapy, also known as immuno-oncology, is a form of cancer treatment that uses the power of the body’s immune system to prevent, control, and eliminate cancer.

Additionally, I will be obtaining a second opinion on my cancer diagnosis from the cancer specialists at the renowned City of Hope Cancer Center.

I have cancer. Needless to say, I’m hopeful but nervous. This medical journey I’ve been forced to travel has been hard and very stressful on me and my family. Thank God for my wife Maria and son Dylan; my mother Cynthia and father Jerry, my sister Stephanie and my dear friends Rick Nuhn, Herb Trawick and others. So many of my family and friends have stepped up in various ways to support my cause. But we need more.

I humbly ask that you continue to contribute to our GoFundMe campaign designed to raise money to offset the ever-mounting medical expenses. The cost of health care, even with insurance, is daunting.

Any dollar amount, you are comfortable in giving, is greatly appreciated. I realize that many of you have already made a donation to this cause. If you’re able to donate again, we will greatly appreciate it.

Please go to https://gofund.me/e20783bc and make a donation today. Also, please be so kind as to share this message with your family, friends, and social networks. The more people that know about our cause, the more support we’re blessed with.

Thank you for whatever you can do to help.

May God Bless You.

Kevin

I Hear You!

I hear you. I hear your words of encouragement. I hear you when you say don’t give up. However, I have found it difficult to stay positive when my doctor recently told me that I have cancer. Yes, it’s true. I’ve been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. And yes, I continue to hear you. The question is, what am I gonna do about it?

It’s easy to say I’m gonna fight it. I’m gonna challenge this disease and I’m gonna win. The truth is, today right this minute, I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I don’t know how to tackle this 800-pound gorilla.

What I do know is I haven’t come this far alone. I’ve had tremendous help during my medical journey since last October. My family has been with me all the way. My dearest friends Rick, Herb, and Dwight have also been there every step of the way.

I’ve received tons of support through our GoFundMe Campaign from family, friends, and supporters… many of whom I have never met personally. It’s gratifying to know that people care enough to open their wallets and are willing to help. We started this GoFundMe to offset the growing medical charges not covered by insurance. Now that we are faced with a cancer diagnosis, we have decided to extend the GoFundMe financial goal to $50,000.

I was recently outfitted with a portable IV machine. I’m receiving antibiotics for a possible stomach infection and intravenous feeding for a nutritional disorder. Fighting cancer is a much bigger medical trauma than the sepsis that landed me in the hospital back in October. Being prepared both mentally and physically is a major part of the challenge. With all the stress, having additional financial resources available is truly a blessing.

I ask that you look into your heart and donate whatever amount you can, whether it be for the first time or if you have donated multiple times.
Please click https://gofund.me/e20783bc and make your donation and share the link with your family, friends, and social communities.

Wish me luck as we continue our journey. Thank you for all you do and have done.

Respectfully,
Kevin Fleming

Hey, its Kevin and if you’ve been following my health journey for the past few months then you know I’ve been severely ill. I’ve spent three months in the hospital, including four weeks in ICU via induced coma and on life support. I was diagnosed with sepsis twice and later pneumonia. All in n all, my sickness and hospital stays have been the most traumatic thing to happen in my life.

Today, I continue outpatient services for lingering challenges, as my body heals and recovers from a long hospital stay. It has been hard. It has not been easy. The illness in my body continues to manifest with pop-up problems with my blood. Last week I spent several days in the hospital with yet another infection.
My daily challenge is keeping a positive mindset throughout this process. Keeping faith is hard to do when you can’t see the desired outcome. That’s my daily challenge.
One thing that I am truly appreciative of is the love and support I get from my family, friends, and many people who have reached out to me that I don’t even know. My family and I appreciate your donations– no matter how large or small.

We are close to completing our desired GoFundMe goal of $35,000 dollars. We have designated the funds for medical expenses, rehabilitative efforts and improving our quality of life under these new medical challenges. With mounting expenses, many of which are not covered by insurance, we may have to extend our fundraiser.
We still need your financial help. Please click this link https://gofund.me/e20783bc to make your donation. Also please share our message with your social community.
I will keep you informed on my journey.

Thank you
Kevin Fleming
