MPA -- HELP MS. HOPKINS!

Ms. Sue Hopkins has been an inspiration to families and children at Mount Pleasant Academy since 1985.
She has been a teacher, a friend, and a role model to children for over 35 years. Her class philosophy has, and will always be, WE ARE FAMILY.
For a generation she has taught an amazing underlying principle suggesting that when one succeeds, those all around succeed. When one is in need, all around have a responsibility to support.
Ms. Hopkins builds tremendous confidence in her students, supporting them in every endeavor in or out of their time at MPA. She teaches them not only reading, writing and arithmetic, she teaches her children manners, respect, and how to be role models in their community.
She further supports her "kids" in their extra curricular activities frequently appearing at their soccer, baseball, lacosse, and basketball games. She supports them at swim meets, tennis matches, and ballet recitals. She wishes them happy birthday at their birthday parties. She is everywhere, generously giving her time every chance she gets, well beyond the realm of her teaching responsibility always striving to uplift her students and demonstrate that she IS ON THEIR TEAM.
As many may know, over the past few weeks Ms. Hopkins has had to shift her attention from her students to taking care of her 96 year old mother in Florida. In the past week she lost her stepfather and is now in the process of moving her mom to live with her here in Charleston.
In order to make Ms. Hopkins' mother comfortable she will need to make substantial modifications to her home including a chair lift, hand rails for her bathroom, and many other enhancements to accomodate her mother's condition. She will also need to compensate a care giver during the day while she returns to her MPA family.
This unforeseen financial hardship will likely weigh heavily on Ms. Hopkins. Just as she has so selflessly provided for so many of our community's children, her friends ask that you consider helping her in her time of need.
Given the support she has provided over the decades, please show Ms. Hopkins that we are ON HER TEAM and we indeed ARE ALL FAMILY. She will most definitely appreciate all of our support.
