We love Chester

Donation protected

I really didn't want to set up a Go Fund me page because I felt that I shouldn't be asking people to help me with my responsibilities, but I have gotten so many wonderful messages from friends who want to help Chester. I do not want anyone to feel obligated to donate or anything like that. Your messages of encouragement have been the biggest gift I could ask for. That being said....this page will allow people to help me with some of Chester's vet bill, should they feel that they can. (Again, please, no pressure, no judgement, we all have our own stuff going on). I don't plan on getting donations nearly as high as the bill, but should I get anything left over, it will be donated to an animal charity, determined by you guys.

I woke up Saturday morning to Chester's usual shanannigans....sitting on my chest, wearing her plastic cape, waiting for my eyes to open so that she could do her morning rituals of getting her treat and to wait for me to put on the radio so we could dance a song together. (She meows at my feet when i turn the radio on). I left for a few hours to help a friend move and when I got back, she wasn't waiting for me at the door like she usually is. I found her curled up in the corner of my room. I walked into a horror scene of vomit, so I just assumed that she had an upset stomach and would sleep it off. I cancelled my plans Saturday night, just in case (I had a bad feeling, she just wasn't "right").

She didn't sleep with me that night....and she usually spoons me like a human. She didnt' come when I called her, and I had to call her name 4 times and shake her to get her to lift her head. (I thought she was dead for a second!). When i went to lift her, she cried out in pain. I threw on whatever mismatched clothes were laying around and rushed her to the anmial CARE hospital Sunday morning. It's a good thing I did, otherwise she wouldn't have made it through the day. An ultrasound showed that her pancreas was three times the size of normal and showing up neon on the tests. She also had a very low white cell blood count (0.2 when the low end of normal is 3). This indicated a secondary infection in her system. They also discovered a small amount of fluid near her organs, which was concerning. She has pancreatis. They don't know what caused it...she's just lucky I guess.

They started her right away on an IV to give her fluids and antibiotics. She was also given a very strong pain med to help ease her extreme pain. The last few days have been slow but sure. Her white blood cell count is climbing every day....she is now at 2.6. This morning I even got her to purr and played a song and danced with her in my arms at the hospital. The only problem now is that she won't eat. I spoke with the vet today and they are going to insert a feeding tube into her nose. I asked how they keep it in and I was told that they stitch it to the outside of the face and put a cone. (Poor Chester!). But the alternative of her not eating could mean death or fatty liver disease. I will be going over tonight to see her again and will update everyone as I know.

please keep good thoughts in your mind for Chester. I don't know what I would do without her. She has a bigger following on Facebook than I do, so I know that there will be lots of positive vibes for her...and I can't thank you guys enough <3
