Would you help Chesterfield Care Group to support the socially isolated members of our community, especially helping those with a diagnosis of dementia and providing respite for carers, in Chesterfield, Dronfield and the surrounding areas. This is our story...

Here at Chesterfield Care Group we are proud to provide award winning social groups for older adults and groups for people who have a diagnosis of dementia since 1982, we have become an established charity in 1996. One of our flagship groups is our walking group that runs two days a week for those with dementia, providing day trips out. We also provide groups in Brimington and Dronfield for those communities and a free carers group for any carers to attend.

We have found the last few years the hardest in our long history of supporting the community of Chesterfield. Firstly the pandemic hit us hard and we had over 160 places taken on a weekly basis and through the pandemic we went down to just 27 people. We had to keep in touch with our service users over the phone during lockdown and unfortunately many of the service users found it too difficult to return.

Another challenge we have recently faced is that we were required to relocate from our Tontine Road home of four decades due to Derbyshire County Council selling the building. After a long search we have recently relocated to the former Hasland Youth Centre. We are constantly trying to update and maintain this centre in order to create a friendly, warm and welcoming environment for the use of our fabulous service users. We have plenty of plans for the building and would like to create a more welcoming outside to the building for our service users and their carers to enjoy.

Unfortunately in the last couple of weeks we have been informed that our lovely transport provider are to stop trading on the 31st of October. Derbyshire Community Transport have provided a friendly service to the people we support for many years. We currently use nineteen mini buses a week which we are currently trying to look for alternatives one of which is the purchase of our own mini bus.
