We Are Human.
We Are Human is pretty simple at its core. Our mission is to humanize homeless populations, namely those most relegated to the fringes of our communities (i.e. Chicago, Lower Wacker Drive).
We try and accomplish this via authentic engagement and distribution of low-cost resources to those most in need. One of our main objectives is to eliminate the barriers that impede our true nature as givers (we’re humanKIND, remember?) so, what my wife and I did was just that. Started giving. First our tithes, then some time, and so on. It wasn’t much, still isn’t really in the scope of things*, but it was a start, and it felt good.
We’re still pretty new; December 1st of 2017 was We Are Human’s birthday. Because of this, and the fact that we both have day jobs, it has been tough to dedicate the necessary focus and dedication it requires to incorporate with the state and federal government as a 501c3 non-profit; though we do intend to be official by the end of 2018.
In the meantime, we hope you decide to join us in helping bring about a new Chicago.
Help us reach our $5000 Fundraising Goal www.gofundme.com/WeAreHuman-Chicago
Or donate your new and/or lightly used coats, shoot us a message and we can pick up!
*In April 2017, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless released an analysis of how many Chicagoans are homeless, per the 2015 census: 82,212.
