Max "Wind" Cameo and Wayne "Standing Bear" Snellgrove produced the "We are the Medicine" album in the winter of 2023/2024 in Germany. It contains indigenous North American flute sounds, drums and singing - to bring medicine to the world. For meditation, ceremony and prayers in the tradition of the indigenous ways. John "Eagle" Somosi is also featured as a singer on this magnificent piece of music.

Wayne William Snellgrove is a member of the Fishing Lake First Nation in Canada, Saulteaux tribe, Ojibwe/ Anishinaabe. He is a published author, spiritual teacher, passionate native flute player and was also a USA national swim team champion. As a survivor of the 60s scoop: The day he was born, Wayne was scooped up by Canadian social workers and placed in an orphanage nearly 800 miles away. Over the years this physical, mental and spiritual displacement led him to be heavily involved with drugs and alcohol. It was the reconnection with his culture and finally the finding of his family that made him heal. He has dedicated his life now to helping others around the world, where he has traveled a lot, by guiding them on their spiritual journey.

Max Cameo is a German artist, author, influencer and musician who is a member of the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community in the USA. He is well known for his native flute playing and his journeys to several tribes in the United States. Max has gone through tremendous struggles in his early life, which had led him to abuse several substances and life on the razors edge. It was his artistry and his love for Mother Nature that made him change his life. The spiritual indigenous traditions that he was able to witness and be taught play a significant role in his life.

What does the album stand for?

Musically we were able to create a safe space during the process of musical creation and production. This means listeners are taken to a healing place, whether it is meditation or ceremony. It was also important for us to integrate spoken word to manifest prayers within this music. The finished product is a well-rounded music adventure that makes every listener be part of the We are the Medicine Circle.

Wayne William Snellgrove ist Mitglied der Fishing Lake First Nation in Kanada, Stamm der Saulteaux, Ojibwe/ Anishinaabe. An dem Tag, an dem er geboren wurde, wurde Wayne von kanadischen Sozialarbeitern abgeholt und in ein fast 800 Meilen entferntes Waisenhaus gebracht. Im Laufe der Jahre führte diese körperliche, geistige und seelische Deplatzierung dazu, dass er stark Drogen und Alkohol abhängig wurde. Erst die Wiedervereinigung mit seiner Kultur und schließlich das Auffinden seiner Familie haben ihn geheilt. Er hat sein Leben nun der Aufgabe gewidmet, anderen Menschen auf der ganzen Welt, die er viel bereist hat, zu helfen, indem er sie auf ihrer spirituellen Reise begleitet.

Max Cameo ist ein deutscher Künstler, Autor, Influencer und Musiker, der Mitglied der Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community in den USA ist. Er ist bekannt für sein native Flötenspiel und seine Reisen zu verschiedenen Stämmen in den Vereinigten Staaten. Max hat in seinem frühen Leben viele Dinge durchgemacht, die ihn zum zu einem Leben auf Messers Schneide geführt haben. Es war seine Kunstfertigkeit und seine Liebe zu Mutter Natur, die ihn dazu brachten, sein Leben zu ändern. Die spirituellen indigenen Traditionen, die er miterleben konnte und die ihm beigebracht wurden, spielen eine wichtige Rolle in seinem Leben.

Es war uns auch wichtig, gesprochene Worte zu integrieren, um Gebete in der Musik zu manifestieren.
