Wee Vikes 6th Grade Blue Superbowl Ring Fundraiser

This fundraiser is to offset costs of providing superbowl rings to the players of the Miamisburg Wee Vikes 6th Grade Blue football team in recognition of their tremendous accomplishments.

The story of this group of extraordinary young men began 6 years ago when they were baby-faced 1st graders. When their helmets were bigger than their bodies and learning to buckle their own chinstraps was just as difficult as learning to play the game.

This class played together as one team as 2nd graders when Head Coach Dustin Williams came aboard to lead the charge. That season saw the emergence of the heart-stopping, never-give-up mentality that would be the hallmark of things to come. The Miamisburg Miracle was born and they ultimately came up just short, falling in double over-time in the superbowl.

In 3rd grade, the class split into two teams, and the Blue squad began their era of dominance in the WOJFC and beyond. The 3rd Grade Blue team finished the 2019 regular season undefeated, continued their flair for the dramatic in the semi-final round of the playoffs with a double over-time victory over their rival, Springboro, during a monsoon. The season culminated in an organization first, all Miamisburg Superbowl. The Blue team completed their undefeated season and claimed their first of 3 WOJFC Superbowl titles.

The 2020 4th grade season was played in the shadow of the Covid pandemic, while the WOJFC did not have an official season, the Wee Vikes did form a partnership with area teams both inside and outside of the WOJFC. The 4th grade Blue Wee Vikes put together a second consecutive undefeated regular season and went on to compete in the Franklin Fall Classic post-season football tournment combined with the 6th grade White Wee Vikes team. As fate would have it, our combined squad advanced to the championship against our rivals, Springboro (combined as well). In miserable, freezing, blustery conditions the Miamisburg Wee Vikes were victorious in a triple over-time stunner.

The 2021 5th Grade Blue squad picked up right where they had previously left off the year before, advancing undefeated to the playoff semi-final, setting up a battle for the ages with a Meadowdale team that was big, fast, strong, and hungry to knock off the defending champ Blue Wee Vikes. 40 minutes of regulation were not enough to determine a winner, it took 3 back and forth OT periods for the Wee Vikes to claim victory and advance to another WOJFC Superbowl. Waiting for the Wee Vikes in the Superbowl was their rival, Springboro. The Blue Wee Vikes defense shutout Springboro to clinch their 2nd WOJFC Championship.

That brings us to 2022, their 6th grade and final season as Wee Vikes Blue. The schedule was daunting, needing to go through all of the top teams in the league in order to remain atop the league standings. The first regular season game of the season put the Wee Vikes on the road against a Meadowdale team determined to exact revenge. Meadowdale did just that, handing the Blue Wee Vikes their first loss since double OT in the Superbowl in 2nd grade. The pride felt for these young men from their coaches could not be measured, because from this point forward, the resilience, perseverance, and resolve that the players showed was phenomenal. Their heads didn't hang, instead, their focus sharpened. The 6th grade Blue Wee Vikes marched through the remainder of this season determined to remain champions. After the first two rounds of the WOJFC playoffs came and went, the sun was setting on the final day of the 2022 season, and there was one more game to be played, the 6th grade superbowl. Standing at opposing ends of the field were Meadowdale and Miamisburg Blue. The epic war between these two teams that was predicted did not disappoint. The score was tied with 4 seconds remaining in the game, just enough time for one more Miamisburg Miracle, the 25yd field goal attempt by Miamisburg as time expired went right between the goal posts, and 6th Grade Miamisburg Wee Vikes Blue captured their 3rd and final WOJFC Championship.

This is more than a story about football and winning. Football is merely a backdrop and the victories along the way a by-product. A by-product of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. This is a love story, these young men love the grind, they love the sport and more importantly, they love each other. They learned to hold each other accountable, how to pick each other up, how to trust, and how to put the team before the individual. They learned to balance academics, athletics, family, and fun. Watching them grow and mature has been remarkable.

Please consider helping to send them off with a small token of our appreciation by contributing to the Superbowl Ring Fund.
