Weekend Food Packs
Donation protected
Weekend food bags are something that is very dear to my heart. Every Friday children in need will receive a weekend's worth of food. The bag is placed discretely in their backpack. A typical bag will consist of soups/canned meal, oatmeal or cereal, granola bars, and a couple snacks. I would like to see this grow into adding a few pieces of fresh fruit. I also take the school breaks into consideration by adding extra items.
Last year, 409 bags were distributed in a five month period. The children who receive this bag are those who are on their own during the weekend or homeless. This year the amount of children in need is greater, therefore, I have to reach a greater audience for donations.
Not only does this program help children in need of food, other student volunteers learn valuable life lessons and empathy toward their peers.
Thank you for helping feed children in need.
