#WegotUs: Support 4 Everod's "James"daughter

Donation protected

Everod (we previously used the name James) came to the US as a green card holder in the 1980s from Jamaica. He was put into deportation proceedings in the mid-1990s after a criminal conviction and has been fighting his deportation since then. Because of complicated legal issues, Everod's case has been going on for over 25 years. Last year, he was arrested by ICE in Long Island and was ripped from his family, which includes his 10 year old daughter and his fiancée, Sophia. After Everod was taken by ICE, Sophia was diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer. As of February 26th, 2020; Sophia lost that fight with cancer.

Because of the way the immigration laws are written, Everod is in "mandatory detention" which means he doesn't even have the right to ask an immigration judge to be released. He's stuck in jail, and was unable to see his fiancée and unable to provide for his family. Everod called Sophia every day even though it hurt for her to speak on the phone because he wanted to make sure she was alive. Now that she has passed, and while James is currently stuck in detention during the Coronavirus outbreak, the family will need help with their daughter, Tia. Any donation or share would help immensely. Also, read Everod talk about his detainment here.  Thank you.
