Friends of RJ,

during a routine cardiology check up RJ and his team of U of M doctors discovered that his current mechanical heart valve would have to be replaced ... immediately.  He was in classic RJ Good spirits as he was rushed to the ICU and prepped for open heart surgery. 

RJ is one of the most generous friends we have. He is always the first to cover your tab and treat you to something special. Despite his wonky valve, he has a lovely heart, always looking for the next gesture to demonstrate the way he cares for his beloved friends and family. Let's do for RJ what I know he would do for us.
 
He will spend the Christmas and New Years holidays in the hospital and will have to remain in Michigan for several weeks as he recuperates. To help defray the cost of his out-of-pocket medical fees, unexpected travel rescheduling, living expenses, bills that arrive while he is away from work, and all the other zillion little life things RJ and his family will have to spend money on while he recuperates, I'd love if his network of friends could rally to raise funds.
