Weight loss surgery so my mum can live again!

Hi, my names Scarlett I’m 17 and I’m trying to raise funds for my mum (she might kill me for doing this) because in January of 2021 she was badly hit by Covid-19 she was hospitalised for 5 weeks spending a lot of that in icu in critical condition! This was a big hit for a family due to it just being me and my mum at home, luckily my grandparents were apart of our bubble so I was able to stay with them but 5 weeks without my mum hearing the nurses say she might not make it through the night was hell! My mum has always been the laughter, the fun, the joy of our family ever since I was young I’ve dreamed of going out on nights out with my mum, taking her raving, taking her to all these places and creating the best memories but Covid has took that away from us! Coming out of hospital she was fine, she bought oxygen home with her and we thought she’d done the hard part, a couple of weeks after being out of hospital we realised something wasn’t right, she couldn’t breathe when simply walking to the toilet in our house, we put it down to her just being weak at first until it’s only got worse. After countless more trips into hospital we found it was something called ‘long covid’ which is something the nhs sadly don’t know anything about! My mum has the bad set of long covid with her illnesses she already had before all this.

Due to not being able to walk far at all she has put weight on which we think is impacting her even more. My mum has lost 3stone but for last 3 months she can't get any further. Since Aug 23 she has been on nhs waiting list for bariatric surgery we were also told it was an emergency list so should be faster but as.of today my Mum has been told at least another 2.5yrs. I don't know how much more my Mum can do as we can't afford to go private. So I decided to do this and see how much I can raise to get her this surgery private. Anything helps completely, I would just like to be able to go out and enjoy life making memories with my mum!
