Matt's 200km walk from Archer River to Weipa

A very dear person to me has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and those close to him have been tasked to raise some funds, giving him an epic experience so he can go out with some great memories. He's given us all a challenge to do something out of our comfort zone, so I'm going to do something very silly for an overweight journalist – walk from Archer River Roadhouse to Weipa in the Cape York heat.

Although the benefactor is based down in Victoria, where I'm originally from, I'm hoping Cape York locals and visitors back this cause, because any funds raised over the target amount will go directly to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.

The plan is to depart the Archer River Roadhouse on Tuesday, October 3. Ideally, I'll be sinking cold beverages in Weipa on the Friday night if I can do 50km/day. I've started up a dedicated Facebook page for this walk and I hope to see many of you at the start/finish or along the way.
