The Story that led to Yoshe's Freedom
Yoshe Taylor is an innocent mother of two who spent 6 years locked up inside a Cambodian Prison after information provided by the Australian Federal Police to Cambodian authorities led to her arrest at Phnom Penh airport in late 2013.
Her Crime?
Being conned by a sophisticated international drug smuggling syndicate.
How?
The drug smuggling syndicate employed fake work contracts, front companies and a high degree of social engineering. They specifically targeted vulnerable Australians, particularly women, turning them into unwitting drug mules.
Yoshe was only one of a number of their victims.
What now?
When she was arrested in 2013 & imprisoned, Yoshe's house was sold and all her remaining funds were exhausted on her legal defence. As a result she was left financially devastated by her ordeal.
Compounding her dire situation, not having money inside a Cambodian Prison meant it was a daily struggle to survive. It also meant she was cut off from contacting her children. As a result they had no contact for over 5 years.
Back Home:
Now free, Yoshe is left to pick up the pieces of a life left in tatters.
Yoshe struggles with the serious psychical & psychological effects of incarceration, including long periods kept in isolation.
Yoshe lacks stable accommodation & has been left to readjust and reconnect with her children on a meager Centerlink income.
Yoshe is a determined and head strong individual - it would be great to see her back on her feet.
