Help welcome & support Naderi family to Cork
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Joya and I'm a friend of Samira and Hamed Naderi, who have just arrived from Afghanistan to rebuild their lives as part of the Irish Refugee Protection Programme.
Samira, Hamed and 18-month old Zahed were forced into hiding as soon as the Taliban took over last August. Hamed worked for the Afghan Women’s Network and Samira was a Biology Teacher in a state girls' school. They were issued death threats - simply because of their work championing womens' and girls' rights in Afghanistan. They have spent the last six months fearing for their lives.
My amazing friends, Nicki & Bertrand, have welcomed the Naderi family into their home in Cork city. A support group is being formed to help Samira and Hamed rebuild their lives by securing PPS numbers, a GP, work, long-term accommodation and make friends.
As the family had to leave everything behind they have to start again from scratch. I'm raising funds to support Samira, Hamed and Zahed while they settle and rebuild their lives. The funds will go towards warm clothes, shoes, food, medical help, schooling and securing long-term accommodation. We've been told that it takes approx 3 to 4 months before they are fully registered into the Irish system, so this is also a way of bridging that gap.
Any donations, large or small, are welcome and very much appreciated.
Thank you so much for helping us to make the Naderi family feel welcome here in Cork.
