Original Story Post:
On September 9, 2020 after 4 years in prison, Red Fawn Fallis returned to Standing Rock to reunite with her loved ones. Red Fawn was sentenced to 57 months in prison for defending the land, water, people, and treaty rights of the Great Sioux Nation during the Dakota Access Pipeline resistance at Standing Rock in 2016.
Red Fawn's uncle Glenn Morris shared these words: “She is the most severely sentenced water protector from the DAPL protest at Standing Rock, while the real criminals continue to pump oil through the pipeline in violation of the 1851 and 1868 Ft. Laramie Treaties and US environmental laws. She deserves to be honored as a heroic woman defender of the water, the land and the people.”
With the request for funds by Red Fawn’s family to aid in transition, The Red Nation California Freedom Council seeks to amplify their call with collective contributions. Whether you can contribute $5 or $25, we are grateful. All money will be directly sent to Red Fawn.
The Red Nation is committed to the abolition of prisons and the logics of dominion and possession that sustain the carceral and fossil fuel economies. The case of Red Fawn demonstrates the ongoing criminalization of water and land defenders everywhere by the invader-state, requiring a network of collectives working together to make sure all defenders of life receive material support, both within the prison and thereafter. Red Fawn sacrificed for us all. For Water. For Standing Rock. For Oceti Sakowin. For us all.
All funds raised will be withdrawn and directly sent to Red Fawn. We have Red Fawn and her uncle Glenn's support for this fundraiser. Our thinking is that as a group we can collectivize donations from our networks through this GoFundMe and increase our impact by raising $5,000 together. However, please also feel free to donate funds to Red Fawn directly:
