WEM Community Youth Ministry

This summer we started the WEM Community Youth Ministry. We are a group of parents and church leaders in the Winger, Erskine, McIntosh and Mentor area who have recognized the need for the youth of our area to come together as one larger community group versus many small or nonexistent youth groups from local churches to provide a positive place for youth to learn about Christ and to have community together. This group is for any and all students in grades 7-12 from the surrounding towns that are interested in building a foundation of faith and enjoying fellowship with peers.

The WCYM has already had some kickoff events which included a canoe outing to the Red Lake River, a worship and fellowship evening, a trip to see a Rend Collective concert in Bemidji and a campfire/worship night. Currently about 25 kids are joining us at each event which is a great start. We hope to meet once a month with a variety of activities to help bring our youth together. We also are going to incorporate ideas on community service into our youth, we are currently planning a trip to a local nursing home. If you know of a need in the community that we can help with, please let us know.

With this new and exciting venture comes the need of funding. We especially need help with start-up funding to get this group up and running. We would like to have money to provide food at our worship nights and to cover the cost of activities so that all kids are able to join and that the cost is not a deterrent. The goal for this group is to give our youth a place to belong, learn about Christ with their friends and to bring our community together.
