In Loving Memory of Patrick Collins

It breaks my heart to let you all know that my nephew, Patrick Collins passed away suddenly in a tragic motorcycle accident on Thursday, June 4th.
For those of you who had the chance to get to know Patrick, you know he had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day! He was a fun loving person who aimed to please and always put others before himself. He had a heart of gold and a light that would never stop shining.
At just 18 years old, he has set his ship sails to a new destination that we can only dream of. While we celebrate his life, we know that he also had struggles in life that had an impact on his whole family as he was challenged by mental health issues.
Mental health is often an issue that is not talked about and doesn't have a lot of funding and thus we have created this page to fund the Patrick Collins Mental Health Memorial Fund.
Patrick had reached a point in his life where he had conquered so many obstacles thrown his way and this fund will help those in similar situations as his overcome their obstacles, catering to adolescents and young adults which have limited support services.
The funds will go to help prepare one for the working world, focus on fun activities that Patrick enjoyed like horseback riding and ziplining, and really give young adults the opportunity to explore life in a way that others may frown upon due to that person's mental illness.
Patrick's mom, Eileen, knows first hand the struggles that Patrick was faced with and thus thought this was the perfect opportunity for friends and loved ones to make a donation in Patrick's honor that will be far reaching by supporting activities that Patrick wished were more readily available when he was "in the system."
Patrick's family is extremely grateful for all the meals, visits, and love that has been shared since this tragic accident but encourage anyone who wants to help them to donate to this fund in lieu of flowers or other gifts as it is a gift that will continue to impact others for years to come.
The family is asking for ANY help you can provide to honor Patrick who was taken from us far too soon. When leaving a donation, if you are able, please leave a memory that you shared with Patrick. His family will be using these memories to celebrate Patrick in the months to come.
We are truly grateful for the strong, caring network of support that surrounds the family.
Visiting Hours: Weds., June 10th from 4-8pm at McDonald's Funeral Home on Route 18 (Main St.) in Weymouth.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Family will meet at the funeral home at 10am and the mass will follow at 11am.
St. Francis Xavier Church on Pleasant St., South Weymouth which is near Weymouth High School.
