Help Wendell Kimbrough Fight His Cancer Battle

Hello! My name is Kayla O'Rick and I am trying to help raise money for Wendell Kimbrough and his family. My husband has been his youngest child's football coach for the last 4 years and we have come to adore their entire family. Their family has a huge heart and will give all that they can to their children, their friends, their neighbors, and the community. They have become an integral part of the Mt. Juliet High School Football Family and we could never repay them for all that they have helped to contribute to the program. At this time, they are looking to receive treatment at MD Anderson but the costs of treatment are currently not being covered by insurance. Without paying upfront/out-of-pocket it will not be possible for him to receive these treatments. I will share more in-depth information about his journey below. Please consider donating and sharing their story to try to help this family get Wendell the treatment that he needs. Also please open their family in prayer for healing.
- On October 1, 2022, Wendell visited the ER for a pinched nerve. He was then referred to Pulmonary care due to spots seen on a scan during this visit.
- On October 5, 2022, He went to his Pulmonary visit where he received more detailed scans and scheduled a biopsy.
- On October 7, 2022, he received the scan and biopsy results which showed Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. He was then referred to TN Oncology.
- On December 1, 2022, He was set to start a clinical trial with TN Oncology but canceled and accepted MD Anderson's invitation to Houston for a 2nd opinion. He visited Houston as a background visit with no testing or treatment received.
- On December 12, 2022, he traveled back to MD Anderson for brain scans, body scans, and blood work.
- On December 16, 2022, Insurance advised they have until December 21 to approve or deny experimental drug studies. They have approved all other aspects of his treatments.
- His treatment needs to begin ASAP as the clinical trial he has joined is beginning soon. However, without insurance, the first treatment will cost $187,000 for one drug and then another $24,000 for the second drug with a total of $211,000 for just one round of treatment.
Again, we ask that you lift this family in prayers for healing. If you are unable to help monetarily please help to share their story. I could not think of a family more deserving of our support during their time of need. All proceeds donated will go directly to their family to help pay for Wendell's treatments and any other needs that may arise during this time such as traveling expenses.
