Wendi Miller Cancer Therapy
Donation protected
On December 27, 2023 my mom - Wendi - was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Initially, her prognosis was good. It seemed they had caught it early, and we were informed that with chemotherapy and a complicated surgery, they were confident that they could cure her.
However, over the past four months, we have been confronted with obstacle after obstacle. Four hospital stays. An inability to tolerate chemotherapy. Two unplanned surgeries. Persistent symptoms that have affected her ability to care for herself. We have fought hard, but the cancer has fought a little harder. On Monday when she was taken back for the surgery to remove the tumor, it was discovered that it had spread to other areas of her liver and the lining of her stomach. This has been a devastating finding that has changed the entire course of her treatment plan.
I have started this fundraiser, because our family is now being forced to consider some unthinkable possibilities. We will not, however, give up our belief that God can work a miracle! We have researched some alternative therapies and have discovered a drug named fenbendazole; it is traditionally used as an antiparasitic for animals, but there is increasing evidence that it can inhibit or slow the growth of cancer cells. Since its use in humans is off-label, insurance does not cover the medication, and it can be costly (around $400 per month). I am hoping to raise the funds to get her through her first six months.
We are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and support that we have received from our family and friends (and even strangers!), and we are thankful for any amount you feel led to donate!
