It’s our turn to help in this FIGHT!

As many know, on December 19th Wendy got a call from her doctor with the results of her endoscopy stating that she has stage 2/3 esophageal cancer. Our whole world was flipped upside down in seconds.

Wendy hasn’t been able to eat solid foods for over 3 months due to her esophagus being almost completely blocked by the tumor. She is losing lots of weight and energy very quickly. She is literally starving from this monstrous cancer. She stays nauseous constantly due to sickness of the cancer, radiation, chemotherapy and hunger.

As of today, Wendy is on her 3rd round of chemotherapy and 15th radiation treatment, with 3 rounds of chemotherapy and 10 more radiation treatments to go. On January 26th she had a procedure to place a feeding tube. Her hospital stay was longer than planned because of the extreme bouts with nausea. The feeding tube will help ensure she gets the nutrients her body needs to be strong for her upcoming surgery. She will receive a full esophagectomy at Duke Hospital. She will be in ICU for 2 weeks after surgery as part of her recovery period. The feeding tube will continue to be her only intake of food for at least 4 weeks following her surgery.

Wendy is self employed and has not been able to work since treatments began. Many are aware of the extensive costs of medical treatments, not only co-pays, but also travel, lodging & food. Not to mention, instances of having to take time off without pay for her husband, Dave. It's hard enough to manage the physical and emotional toll from the tumor but on top of that having to worry about finances and bills at the same time.

Wendy would much rather be helping others than having to ask for help herself. She has always had a giving heart and would help anyone, even strangers, without hesitation.

Wendy has always been there to cheer on her son Cameron & his teammates at sporting events. Now it's our turn to lift her up through this journey. Every dollar counts and we greatly appreciate your contribution. If you don't feel led to give, please continue to pray for Wendy and her family.

Please pray this prayer with us: Dear Heavenly Father, please be with Wendy and her family, and the medical team throughout this entire process. We believe You will remove every cancerous cell and replace them with new ones! We pray for strength, and a sense of peace and calming. We know that everything is possible through you.
