Wendy Sanders Family M49
My name is Leah Plumley. Along with the Ocean Lake family I’ve been following the
heartbreaking story about the squatters in M49,
the home that belongs to Wendy Sanders. With the permission from the Sanders’s family I felt
the need to try to help her in some way.
Wendy rented her home to Phillip and Ashley
Williams in November 2020 and when the
rental expired, they decided to take over this
house.
Wendy and her family have spent countless
hours to fight this, they have hired a lawyer, they have lost the availability to rent the house out
and now that summer is here she will not be
able to rent it out. In January she also tried to
pay them $2000.00 to vacate only to be
rejected by Phillip.
Everyone has asked about turning the power off, throwing theirs things out and so on. But due
the Federal COVID eviction laws, Wendy and
Ocean Lakes have their hands tied, and until a
judge issued a court order for their eviction she must keep the rental the way it was when
originally rented or she could face criminal
charges.
Wendy was supposed to go to court the
beginning of April and Phillip had it postponed
claiming he had COVID.
When she finally got a court date on April 30th, Phillip did not show up for court and a 24 hour
notice to vacate was served. With an option to
appeal and on May 7th they were served with
eviction papers that morning and that evening
Phillip filed the appeal. So now they are waiting
to go back to court again. With a backlog of
cases, court is backed up 2-3 months. So the
drama continues.
These squatters have multiple animals in the
house, they have broken one of the AC units
and is in the process of burning the other one
up. They are destroying this beautiful house.
They have not paid a dime since the first of
December 2020.
When they do finally get these ungrateful
people out of their house, the Sanders’s family
will have to gut this house and make many
repairs. Plus the revenue they have lost since
December and the summer months especially.
I have never heard of this happening in Ocean
Lakes. We have all said what we would do if it
would had been our house. But until you have
been put in this situation we’re not sure what
we would do.
I am asking for anyone who loves Ocean Lakes
families to come together and let’s help them
out
