A woman aged 73, named locally as Wendy Ayoub, escaped with only cuts and bruises after apparently being saved because her washing machine shielded her from falling debris. A gas leak had caused an explosion, leaving her home and all possessions as nothing but debris.
Firefighters have told how they had to free the woman by hand from the rubble, for fear of sparking a new gas explosion with cutting equipment. This poor woman has lost everything and even if she is insured, it will take awhile for the insurance to pay out, we are raising money to help this lady to start all over again from scratch, what ever we can raise will help toward the basics at least that she will need.
