My sister's home had a terrible fire today, thankfully they are all safe. However my sister and nephews belongings are completely ruined.
Wendy thankfully had a new home in the pipeline, her first own home which she has worked incredibly hard to save for, however a lot of her brand new items could not be saved and they have very little left, she has the huge challenge now of starting from scratch.
We have had to do a supermarket run tonight just for the basic, school shirts and PJ's.
It really is unbelievable just how much damage was caused but we do have a lot to be grateful for, insurance unfortunately was not one of those things.
Wendy has some incredibly kind friends and family, many of whom have offered help already and I am sure she would really appreciate anything that can be given towards helping her and her 14 year old son Cole get on their feet again.
Here's her full story:
So today has been the worst day of my life!!!! I left my house at 9:00am and received a devastating call about 9:35 to say my house was on fire . I have never ever panicked so much in my life, my poor dog was in the house. I could see the smoke from the Forfar road which sent me in more panic. Two fire engines were at my house and a squad of firemen. Luckily they saved buddy and after a day on oxygen and fluids he is ok.... thankfully There isn’t much salvaged but we are all alive which is the main thing. I just wanted to let everyone know because I have received so many messages. Thank you so much for your well wishes. We are staying at my mums and I’m not allowed back home to my house in Fintry now. It was my tumble dryer that was the cause.
So the moral of the story is PLEASE DO NOT leave any appliances on when you leave your house as I did today I will regret it for the rest of my life. Thank you so so much to Jane, Trish & Ashley all the staff at Abertay housing and all my family for all the help ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
