Wes Horton’s Medical Expenses and Care Fund
Donation protected
This is a GoFundMe for the Medical Expenses and Post Surgery Care for Wes Horton.
I am Tammy Leming and I am a close friend of Judy Barlow, Wes’ mother. I have followed Wes’ health journey closely and have prayed over Wes and his family for a long time.
For those that may not know Wes or the health struggles that he has endured, let me share a little background. Wes is the eldest child (40 years old) of Judy and Robert Barlow. He has 3 sisters, one of which is watching over him from heaven. He has been battling a failing liver for approx. 5 years now. After many close calls with his declining health, the Doctors in New Orleans (approx. 4+ hours away from his home) finally put him on the top of the liver donor list Jan. 18, 2024.
Fast forward to this week, Wes ended up returning to his local hospital with declining health. The doctors there did a wonderful job getting the toxins under control for the time being. Then, Wes got the call. The call that will change his life forever. The call that gives Wes the opportunity to be able to heal!! A LIVER!!
Wes, with his mother Judy at his side, was taken by ambulance on Saturday, April 6, 2024, to Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. He is currently in room #11093 John Horton until his transplant, which is scheduled for Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 5:30 pm. Once he is out of surgery, he will be in ICU for a few days.
Wes will need to stay in New Orleans for a couple of months while he heals, so that the doctors can keep an eye on his recovery. Due to this need, his mother, Judy, will be staying by his side to assist with the care he will need.
Most families cannot survive without 2 incomes to make it with inflation and such, Wes’ family has those same needs. Judy, will need to take off of work for the 2 months (approx.) to care for her son. Judy currently works as a waitress in her local town. She will not be able to work during this time. She will need funds to assist in the care of Wes and the expenses that she will face while living away from home in New Orleans.
I ask that you will prayerfully consider blessing this wonderful family during this time of need with the funds that are so desperately needed. If you are unable to give at this time, please lift Wes and his family up in prayer. Wes’ recovery will be long, so lots of prayers and blessings appreciated.
Thank you for your generosity and we will update you as we can.
