Friends and followers of Christ,
With much thought and prayer, we have humbly decided that setting up a Gofundme for the Wesley Coleman family is, besides prayer, the best way we can ease the financial burden of the expenses they are facing. Anyone who knows the Coleman family knows they have giving and loving hearts, exemplifying the meaning of "living for Christ".
Wesley loves God, his family, and his friends. He and his wife, Danielle, have two sons, Cade (13) and Hudson (8). Besides being a husband, father, son, and brother, Wesley is known as coach to everyone in the community, especially the boys he has coached in baseball, soccer, football, and basketball for many years. The impact that coach Wes has had on the youth in our community is more than one could imagine. His love for sports, including tennis, started early in his life. Wes played tennis at Central Alabama Community College for two years, where he later became an assistant coach for one year and the head coach for five years. For the last several years, Wes has been a full-time tennis pro. Yet, to those he encounters daily, he is a friend with the kindest and most gentle soul.
Life was good on June 2nd as Wesley spent his day coaching the FCA tennis camp for the youth. On June 5th, life changed in an instant. He was home with his family when he began exhibiting signs of a stroke. Danielle quickly took him to the ER, where he was diagnosed with late-stage nonischemic cardiomyopathy, which caused the stroke. After several days in the hospital, he was discharged home to recover from the stroke with plans to begin medical treatment with hopes of improving his cardiac function. He was released home on multiple medications and was required to wear a life vest to protect him from life-threatening arrhythmias. Within a week of being home, Wesley suffered a 2nd stroke. At this time, he was airlifted to UAB hospital, where he underwent multiple procedures and sadly suffered a 3rd stroke. Despite the incredible efforts to remove the clot in his brain, he was left to require extensive therapy for an unknown duration to overcome the profound effects. Once back home, Wesley began his outpatient treatment for stroke therapy in Auburn twice per week. Danielle has now become a 24-hour caregiver to her previously athletic and healthy husband. Another week passes, and Wesley becomes too weak to remain at home due to his weakening cardiac function. He is again hospitalized at UAB, totaling 26 days in the hospital to date. It has now been determined that Wesly will remain hospitalized at UAB until he receives a heart transplant.
As many of you know, the type of care leading up to this point and the extensive care moving forward does not come without a cost. The fear and burden laid upon the Colemans are ones that we pray we can relieve. In their unimaginable struggles, Danielle frequently speaks of how God has continued to reveal himself in their lives. Wesley and Danielle have continued to praise God in their storms. Knowing what a grateful and humble heart they have, we should not be surprised when she says, "If anyone asks what they can do, tell them our desire is for people to see Christ in this moment and nurture and grow their relationship with him." During the hardest of times, their concern is for others. How can that be? The answer is simple...Wesley and Danielle live for Christ.
We all have the privilege and power of prayer. Our prayer is that we can lift the financial burden of the overwhelming medical expenses to follow. Rest assured, all donations will go to these expenses required to make our friend healthy again. We know God gives his hardest battles to his toughest soldiers. Let's be the Colemans' army by helping ease the financial burden and asking ourselves, "What is our relationship with Jesus?"
"Let us give thanks to the God and Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes. He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God." 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4
