On Friday, July 26, 2019, Wes and Colleen's home was struck by lightning, largely destroying the house and their belongings. Early in the morning of Monday, July 29, Wes suffered a heart attack and passed away unexpectedly. In the span of a few days, Colleen lost both her husband and her home.
