Wesley needs a wheelchair van!!
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Victoria. I have two kids, and one has *extraordinary* needs. Many of you know him as Wesley the Warrior; and for that he is.. a warrior!!
We are fundraising in hopes to cover the costs of a wheelchair van!
Wesley was born with a 21q21 micro deletion syndrome. He has spent a lot of time in the hospital, and deals with bone marrow failure that causes low platelets and anemia. Having low platelets specifically affects his life drastically, it makes it so his blood cannot clot properly. He requires transfusions every week, or more if he’s bleeding. He also has recurring fevers that cause respiratory distress, that happen every week. The list of all his medical needs and experiences is extensive- and the fact he is here is a miracle!!! Not to mention, that he is here and the happiest kiddo out there!
Having an accessible vehicle will be absolutely life changing for us as a family. Currently, Wesley has to travel to McMaster once a week at least to receive platelet transfusions. He also travels for various other appointments… not to mention regular family outings! It’s impossible for me to lift his wheelchair into the van by myself, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get him into a car seat as he gets bigger and less cooperative about it.
Having the ability to easily transport this sweet boy can change our lives completely…. And him and his big sister can share more out of the house experiences .
It will also prepare us for an uncertain future, for weeks where he needs to go to Mac two times instead of one (which happens). Or during emergencies when we need to transport him, he can remain in his wheelchair that is perfectly fitted for him and equipped with his spare oxygen tank and suctioning machine. This will allow easier access to managing him when necessary.
Thank you so much to everyone for supporting us!!!
IF you have any ideas on smaller fundraiser to help, we would be forever grateful!!!!
