West Branch Farm needs our help

On March 14th, 2023 The town of Colrain, MA and surrounding areas had an epic 3-4 foot Blizzard. The snow was heavy and hit all of us hard in a short period of time. While we all worked through it safely there was an unexpected life-changing event that unfortunately took place. "West Branch Farm" a five-generation Dairy (hopefully 6 and many more) was devastated. The main free-stall barn that holds the entire milking herd collapsed under the snow load. The best part of it all (if that can be said) is the people, cows and equipment were saved; literally within minutes of its collapse. This is truly the only positive thing that helped Kenny Herzig and his family/friends deal with this. As stated earlier, Kenny is the active 5th-generation owner/operator. His hopes and dreams are that someday his daughters will be able to take over and carry on a way of life that few people understand. Dairy farming like most farming isn't a job, or career, it's a way of life. However, this catastrophic event could very well be the breaking point for a century-old and counting Dairy. Kenny is one of the hardest-working, honest folks I know. He's often called the "busiest man in Colrain" and rightly so with his passion and relentless work ethic; taking care of his family, animals, and farm. In these current times small "family farms" are closing their doors because they have a hard time making ends meet under perfect conditions, never mind when a catastrophe hits. For a fact, the farm is insured but unfortunately an "act of God" isn't covered. The set financial goal covers the new cattle barn which is a must for this family farm to survive. If you're a milk, cream, butter, or Ice Cream lover please step up in whatever way you can to financially help! Please know that every penny counts. Due to the present economy if you are unable to donate it's completely understandable, but please, if you will "share" the heck out this fundraiser. West Branch Farm, its hired hands and the surrounding communities will forever be grateful for your help. Thank you to all that take the time to read this and help in whatever way you can.
